Pipeline settings control the stages that appear on your sales lead board. Customize stages to match your sales process, reorder them by dragging, and set colors to visually organize your pipeline. Changes here affect how leads move through your sales workflow in the Pipeline.
Access Pipeline settings
Pipeline settings are part of the Workspace configuration in Company Settings. From the admin dashboard, go to Settings and select the Pipeline section. For more on navigating settings, see Company Settings.
Understanding pipeline stages
Your pipeline consists of two types of stages:
Non-terminal stages — Active sales stages where leads are in progress. These stages represent steps in your sales process, such as New Lead, Site Walk Scheduled, or Estimate Sent. You can add, edit, reorder, and delete these stages.
Outcome stages — Terminal stages that always appear last in your pipeline. These mark the end of a lead's journey: Closed Won (successful sale) and Closed Lost (deal not closed). Outcome stages cannot be removed, but you can edit their names and colors.
Stage position matters. Leads flow through non-terminal stages until they reach an outcome. Pipeline totals count only leads in non-terminal stages.
Default stages
Chisel Tide provides a default pipeline with stages that cover a typical pool service sales process:
New Lead — The starting point for all new prospects.
Site Walk Scheduled — You've scheduled a site visit.
Site Walk Complete — You've completed the walkthrough.
Estimate Sent — You've sent the proposal or quote.
Closed Won — The prospect became a customer.
Closed Lost — The deal did not close.
The first four are non-terminal stages. Closed Won and Closed Lost are outcome stages and always appear at the end.
Reorder stages
Drag stages to rearrange their order. The drag handle appears on the left side of each stage row. When you drag a stage to a new position:
Click and hold the drag handle.
Drag the stage to its new position.
Release to drop it in place.
Outcome stages always remain at the bottom and cannot be dragged above non-terminal stages.
Add a custom stage
To create a new pipeline stage:
Click Add Stage above the stage list.
Enter a Stage name in the input field.
Select a Color from the preset palette.
Click Add to create the stage, or Cancel to discard.
New stages appear at the bottom of the non-terminal stage list. Drag to reposition them after creating.
Stage names cannot be blank. If you attempt to add a stage with an empty name, Chisel Tide blocks the action and shows an error.
Edit a stage
Each stage has an edit button on the right side of its row. To modify a stage:
Click the edit (pencil) button next to the stage.
Update the Stage name or Color inline.
Click Save to apply changes, or Cancel to discard them.
Delete a stage
To remove a stage from your pipeline:
Click the delete (trash) button next to the stage.
If the stage has leads assigned, a confirmation dialog appears asking where to move those leads.
Select a destination stage for the existing leads.
Confirm the deletion.
You cannot delete outcome stages (Closed Won, Closed Lost). These terminal stages are always available to categorize won and lost deals. Additionally, you cannot delete the last remaining non-terminal stage — your pipeline requires at least one active stage where new leads can enter.
Stage colors
Stage colors help you visually organize your pipeline board. Each stage displays with a colored bar or indicator on the Pipeline page. Choose from 10 preset colors:
Blue (#3b82f6) — Calm, professional
Amber (#f59e0b) — Attention, progress
Purple (#8b5cf6) — Premium, unique
Pink (#ec4899) — Warm, approachable
Green (#10b981) — Success, positive
Red (#ef4444) — Urgent, stopped
Cyan (#06b6d4) — Fresh, in-progress
Orange (#f97316) — Active, action needed
Indigo (#6366f1) — Thoughtful, informational
Slate (#94a3b8) — Neutral, pending
Choose colors that make sense for your workflow. Many pool service businesses use green for won deals and red for lost deals to match common visual conventions.
How pipeline changes affect existing leads
When you modify your pipeline stages, existing leads adjust automatically:
Rename a stage — All leads in that stage update to the new name.
Reorder stages — Leads stay in their assigned stages; only the column order changes.
Delete a stage with leads — You must choose a destination stage for those leads before the deletion completes.
Pipeline stage changes apply immediately. All team members see the updated pipeline the next time they load the Pipeline page.
Troubleshooting
You cannot delete a stage when:
It's an outcome stage — Closed Won and Closed Lost are permanent terminal stages. Rename them if you prefer different labels, but you cannot remove them.
It's the last non-terminal stage — Your pipeline needs at least one active stage. Create a new stage first, then delete the one you want to remove.
Before deleting a stage that contains leads, Chisel Tide prompts you to choose where those leads will move. Select a destination stage from the dropdown, then confirm the deletion. All leads from the deleted stage transfer to your chosen destination.
No. Deleted stages are permanently removed. If you need a similar stage, create a new one with the same name and color. Note that leads that were moved to another stage will remain in their assigned stage — they don't automatically move back.
