Review Systems

The Review Systems settings page configures integrations with review platforms so you can sync and manage customer reviews from within Chisel Tide. Currently, you can connect your Google Business Profile to automatically import reviews and publish responses. Additional platforms like Yelp are coming soon.

Connection statuses

The Google Business Profile integration shows one of four status badges depending on your connection state:

  • Not configured — No OAuth credentials have been saved. You need to enter your Client ID and Client Secret from Google Cloud Console.

  • Credentials saved — Your OAuth credentials are stored but not yet connected. You must authorize Google access to complete the setup.

  • Connected — Active connection to Google Business. Reviews sync automatically on a schedule and you can sync manually.

  • Expired — Your Google authorization token has expired and needs to be refreshed. You must reconnect to continue syncing reviews.

Setting up Google Business Profile

To connect your Google Business Profile for review syncing:

  1. Go to Settings and select Review Systems.

  2. Under Google Business Profile, enter your OAuth Client ID from the Google Cloud Console.

  3. Enter your OAuth Client Secret from the Google Cloud Console.

  4. Click Save Credentials to store your credentials securely. Chisel Tide encrypts your credentials at rest using AES-256-GCM.

  5. Click Authorize Google Access to connect your Google Business account.

  6. After authorization, select your business location from the list of available locations.

Once connected, the settings page displays your selected location name, the last sync timestamp, and the total number of synced reviews.

For detailed steps on creating Google API credentials and configuring the OAuth consent screen, see the Reviews documentation.

Managing your connection

Sync reviews manually

When your Google Business Profile shows Connected status, click Sync Now to immediately pull the latest reviews from Google. Reviews sync automatically on a regular schedule, so you typically only need manual sync when you want immediate updates.

Disconnect Google Business

Click Disconnect to remove the connection between Chisel Tide and your Google Business Profile. This does not delete your saved OAuth credentials — it only revokes the authorization token. You can reconnect later without re-entering your credentials.

Remove credentials

Before you authorize Google access, you can click Remove credentials to delete your stored OAuth Client ID and Client Secret. This returns the integration to Not configured status.

Reconnect after expiration

If your Google authorization expires, you'll see a message: "Your Google authorization has expired. Reconnect to continue syncing reviews." Click Reconnect Google Business to refresh the authorization using your stored credentials. You do not need to re-enter your Client ID and Client Secret.

Yelp integration

The Yelp integration is Coming Soon. The settings page shows a Yelp card with a "Coming Soon" badge, indicating this feature is not yet available. Once released, the Yelp integration will use the Yelp Fusion API for review monitoring.

Troubleshooting

Why does my connection show "Expired"?

Google OAuth tokens expire periodically as part of Google's security policy. When this happens:

  • You cannot sync new reviews until you reconnect.

  • Your previously synced reviews remain visible in the Reviews dashboard.

  • Click Reconnect Google Business to refresh the authorization using your stored credentials.

You do not need to re-enter your OAuth Client ID and Client Secret.

Why do I see a sync error?

If a sync fails, the connection displays a "Last sync error" message with details. Common causes include:

  • Google API temporary outage — Wait a few minutes and try syncing again.

  • Revoked permissions — If you revoked Chisel Tide's access in your Google account, disconnect and reconnect the integration.

  • Location not found — If you deleted or changed your Google Business location, disconnect and select a new location.

Can I connect multiple Google Business locations?

No. Each Chisel Tide organization can connect to one Google Business location at a time. After authorizing Google access, you select the single location whose reviews you want to sync. To change locations, disconnect your current connection and reconnect, then select a different location.

How do I reset my OAuth credentials?

To completely reset your Google Business integration:

  1. Click Disconnect to remove the authorization.

  2. If available, click Remove credentials to delete your stored Client ID and Client Secret.

  3. Enter new OAuth credentials from Google Cloud Console.

  4. Click Save Credentials and then Authorize Google Access.

Where can I manage my synced reviews?

Synced reviews appear in the Reviews page in the main navigation. From there you can filter reviews, respond using AI-generated drafts, and track your online reputation across platforms.
